donkeyboy released their debut single Ambitions in March 2009. Since then the five piece – take a deep breath – have topped the charts in their native Norway, as well as Sweden and Denmark, sold 115.000 copies of their debut album Caught In A Life (released in October 2009), played more than 100 live shows, won several Norwegian music awards, and even a Swedish Grammy for best international new act… and now they’re back at the top of the charts with City Boy, lead single from their sophomore album.

What have you been up to over the last three years?

The immense success of the five friends, fronted by brothers Cato and Kent Sundberg and helped by guest vocalists such as Linnea Dale, is a dream come true. Can 25 – twenty five! – platinum awards be described as anything else? Thankfully it’s not a dream, but the real life success of a talented and hard working band.

donkeyboy have no reason to fear one-hit wonder oblivion. Their debut album was a triple-platinum selling #1 charting success, spawning 5 top 10 hits including 7x platinum Sometimes and the 13x platinum Ambitions, which spent an amazing 52 weeks in the official singles charts. That’s one year to you and me!

Just weeks after release, City Boy is #1 in Norway and Denmark, top 10 in Finland and climbing the Swedish charts. March sees the release of their much anticipated second album, Silver Moon. And in case you’re wondering, the album is packed with pop gems and future anthems, with the record company complaining about “too many hit singles to choose from”. Now there’s a first!

As on Caught In A Life, the band have collaborated closely with producers Simen Eriksrud and Espen Berg. The Sundberg brothers have written, or co-written, every track with other band members or Eriksrud and Berg. Though there have been other contributors on the production side, Eriksrud and Berg are so instrumental to the sound and success of donkeyboy that they’re pretty much considered honorary band members.

Adding an additional touch of magic to Silver Moon is legendary mixer Phil Tan. With more than 300 album credits to his name, Tan has worked his magic on 24 Billboard Hot 100 number one hits. He has worked with artists such as Mariah Carey, Rihanna, Alicia Keys and Katy Perry, is hit-producers Stargates mixer of choice, totalling over 280 million albums sold. A further stamp of approval, and success, for Silver Moon.
